Morristown Citizen Tribune Obituary

Victoria Lynn Shirk Stillman, age 49 passed away December 19, 2004 in her home in Efrat, Israel, just outside of Jerusalem. Formerly of Morristown, Vikki attended Manley and Alpha Elementary Schools and graduated from Morristown West in 1973. Vikki graduated from the University of Tennessee Knoxville in 1977. Married to Jay Stillman in 1983, Vikki gave up her career with South Central Bell in 1985 to raise her children. She moved with her family from Nashville to Israel in 1991.

Vikki is survived by her husband, Jay Stillman, formerly of Nashville, daughter Michal, age 19, sons Natan, 17, and Gabi, 14, all of Efrat, Israel. Vikki is also survived by her parents, Jimmy and Billie Shirk who now reside in Louisville, TN, her brother and sister in law, Steve and Janet Shirk of Atlanta, GA, her paternal grandmother, Myrtle Shirk, of Maryville, and nephew, Justin Shirk, also of Maryville. Her favorite aunt, Barbara Layman of Louisville, TN and cousins Debbie Pearson, of Maryville, and David Layman of Anchorage, Alaska are also among her closest family.

Vikki was a wonderful mother to her children, dedicated to her family and lived her life as she felt it should be lived. Although Vikki and her family maintain dual citizenship with the United States, she loved her adopted country and felt it a wonderful place to raise her children. She visited as often as possible and stayed very much involved with her family here in Tennessee.

Vikki departed from this world in her own home, as was her wish, after a courageous battle with cancer. She remained vibrant, positive, determined, and fought the terrible disease with the same intensity as she exemplified throughout her life. For those who knew Vikki as a child and teenager in Morristown, she never changed. Vikki remained, even throughout her illness, a most unforgettable and dynamic personality. Vikki will be sorely missed by all those who love her. Funeral services and interment will be in Efrat, Israel. In lieu of flowers, please say a prayer for all those people suffering from cancer and if possible, make regular donations to the American Cancer Society.
